There are no formal policies or guidelines providing for differential treatment based on nationality. However, certain recurring practices and trends can be identified.
According to statistical data from the determining authority over the past five years (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025), applications lodged by Afghan, Syrian and Belarusian nationals have generally been regarded as well-founded. Afghan and Belarusian applicants are typically granted asylum, while Syrian applicants are predominantly provided with subsidiary protection. The fall of the Assad regime did not result in any observable change in this practice. By contrast, the majority of applications submitted by Moroccan nationals are either rejected as inadmissible/manifestly unfounded or refused on the merits.
