Beneficiaries of international protection have freedom of movement within Slovakia, and there is no legal provision requiring them to remain in a specific region, municipality or facility. There is no dispersal scheme in place.
The freedom of movement for everyone, regardless of their citizenship, is guaranteed by the Article 23(1) of the Constitution of the Slovak Republic.
The provision of selected social assistance is linked to the beneficiary’s registered place of residence for administrative purposes. Under the system of social assistance (sociálna pomoc) and state social benefits (štátna sociálna podpora), benefits are administered by the locally competent OLSAF according to the applicant’s place of residence. Applicants must declare and prove their address when applying for social assistance, and entitlement is assessed by the competent OLSAF. (For additional details, see Social Welfare)
