Country Report: The safe country concepts

Both the ‘safe third country’ concept and the ‘safe country of origin’ concept are incorporated in the German Constitution (Grundgesetz) and further defined in the Asylum Act.[1] The concept of ‘another third country’, akin to the ‘first country of asylum’ concept, has been incorporated in the inadmissibility concept of the Asylum Act following the reform entering into force in August 2016 (see Admissibility procedure).
