Differential treatment of specific nationalities in reception

Asylum applicants from a Safe country of origin are subject to special reception conditions. Asylum applicants from these countries are obliged to stay in initial reception centres for the whole duration of their procedure. Since asylum applicants are barred from access to the labour market as long as they are obliged to stay in an initial reception centre, these provisions also mean that these groups are effectively excluded from employment for the duration of their stay in these centres.

Moreover, given that the distribution of asylum applicants takes into account the capacities of the BAMF to process specific applications, people may be faced with different reception conditions due to their nationality.
