Overview of statistical practice

Due to a lack of disaggregated public data on asylum applications, statistics have been collected through the Eurostat Database.

According to the database, a total of 158,605 applications were presented in 2024. Out of these, 151,120 (95.3%) were first-time applications, while 7,485 (4.7%) were subsequent application. 78,565 first-instance decisions were issued throughout the year; the overall protection rate (including special protection) at first instance stood at 35.9%.

Total final decisions issued in 2024 were 13,530, out of which 11,460 (84.7%) were positive decisions, while 2,070 (15.3%) were rejected. Most final decisions (10,095, 74.6% of the total) granted special protection to the applicant.
